Protecting Sally
Project Type:
One Button Game
Date:
2025
Protecting Sally is my first major solo-dev project. It was one of the most challenging endeavours of my game design academic career. Having to learn to fully manage myself and stay accountable was a steep learning curve, but it taught me a lot on organizing my own time according to a production timeline. The nature of the One Button Game instructions for this project assignment, was also quite difficult to approach. It took me a while to settle for a concept, but ultimately I decided to choose a simple mechanic in accordance to my programming capabilties which I knew were limting me in terms of what I would be able to accomplish within the timeframe of the project.

Solo-development had me taking care of all possible tasks during the production of this game. From programming, to level design and asset finding, I had to do it all. I did my best to divide my time accordingly to what was highest priority, so some aspects (like the visuals) are lacking compared to the original vision I had in mind. I also did some playtests with fellow game design classmates to have feedback on my work, as well as asking for help on some programming difficulties I encountered.
